The stone work they accomplish is incredible!
After I returned to Fiji in November, the boys finished off the upper level and the roof.
Another cordelo filled with cement and rebar and very large beams
Insulation, tar paper and the tile roof
Starting to look a bit more like a real house now…
John and I came back in February got started again
Trying to decipher my house plans…
The scaffolding came down for awhile
Remember that big water cistern that was partially under the house…now nicely walled off…soon to have a proper cover on it
Starting a bit of stone wall work
Roof and tiles are finished and in a couple of years will have that wonderful aged look
This will eventually be Johns equipment room and technical stuff (locale technico)
Now, what to do about that olive tree that is right in the way of the new wall
Dirt all cleared and ready to start the wall
Straight and precise…as much as rocks can be
The boys really did some beautiful work, it was amazing to watch them
The perfect solution….a curved wall around the tree
A very happy olive tree
The endless wheelbarrows of cement
Beautiful!
Meanwhile, as the boys worked, we decided to tidy up too!
Much better!
Ready to pour the sidewalk
A little sand, a little gravel, pour the cement and we have an entry walkway and sidewalk
That evening, a quick stop by a local farm to grab 10 liters of delicious, dry and fruity Nero d’Avola wine…€1.25 a liter
and he threw in a crate of oranges and lemons!
Very happy with the progress so far…
Our little stable…Bella Stalla…has to be smiling, filled with renewed energy and more to come! On to the inside!
The bathroom and laundry room addition. The first pour of cement so we have a level working area for the in-floor heating to be put down.
Doing the fuga (grout) around every single rock
It is going to be a gorgeous kitchen!
The kitchen and pantry work begins…
Looking good…all artifacts intact! The donkey tie-up stone and the candle holding rock are unbroken and solid! Not to mention the soon to be wine holding opening!
